Bronze award from Ministry of Defence

We’ve been given a bronze award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, for our commitment to supporting the armed forces community.

The scheme was set up by the Ministry of Defence to publicly thank and honour those organisations that have been given an award. The award means we promote being armed forces-friendly and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners.

Karen Cowan, Head of Customer and Support Services said: “Being part of the Armed Forces is great honour for us. We’re proud to support those who we want the armed forces community to know we will support them any way we can, and will ensure they are treated fairly.”

In July 2018 we also signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a promise to ensure that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. To date over 1,500 organisations have signed it, including businesses and charities.
