Festivities for over 65 local people at The Viking Centre
The Viking Centre community hub, based in Barton upon Humber, hosted a magical month of activities this December, ending with a fun filled Christmas party for 40 local children.
Events included festive bingo, Christmas dinners, weekly workshops, parties, stay and play, and youth clubs, with Cash for Kids mission Christmas and Doncaster Rovers providing time, funds and support to make them possible.
Many families feel the added pressure of Christmas and the financial strain it can cause. That’s why Ongo hosts free events to enjoy the magic of the season without the burden of money worries.
The Viking Centre’s penultimate party was filled with joy and laughter as children danced, enjoyed food, met Santa, and received presents to take home and place under their tree.
One parent shared their heartfelt message of gratitude: “Thank you for the party, it was so lovely. My children are absolutely over the moon.”
Another parent added: “My children were so excited leaving the party, so we let them open their gifts when we got home. My youngest girl hasn’t stopped playing with her gymnastics Barbie. It really has been so special to watch.”
Grace Woolley, Viking Centre Coordinator, said on behalf of the team: “Events like these are so important. They bring local people together and create moments of joy that really do strengthen bonds and community spirit.
“Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces makes all the hard work worthwhile and that wouldn’t be possible without all of those that donated and took part, so a special thanks must go to them.
“From all of the team, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year.”
