Hundreds supported through our stop smoking programme
Hundreds of tenants and residents across North Lincolnshire are improving their health and wellbeing thanks to our Stop Smoking and Wellbeing Programme.
Over the past two years, we’ve supported 261 people to access stop smoking support, with 123 tenants successfully quitting smoking and taking an important step towards a healthier future.
A key part of the programme’s success has been the popular Swap to Stop initiative, which offers free vaping kits to help people move away from smoking. So far, 935 people have accessed the scheme, showing just how valuable practical and accessible support can be for those looking to quit.
We’ve focused on making support available where people need it most, working closely with tenants and community groups across North Lincolnshire to help people access the advice and tools they need to make positive lifestyle changes.
As well as supporting individuals directly, we’ve invested in training colleagues to have positive conversations about smoking and wellbeing. Over the past two years, 90 customer-facing colleagues have completed Very Brief Advice (VBA) training, helping them feel confident in signposting people to the right support.
Community engagement has also played a big part in the programme’s success. We’ve delivered 168 focus groups and community events, helping raise awareness of the support available and encouraging people to have open conversations about their health and wellbeing.
Real-life experiences have been at the heart of the project, with 12 customer case studies completed to showcase the difference the service has made to local people and their families.
The programme has exceeded expectations across all areas of delivery, highlighting the importance of providing free, accessible support that helps people make positive lifestyle changes.
Carol Richardson, Stop Smoking Project Lead said, “We’re incredibly proud of the difference this programme is making for people across North Lincolnshire.
Quitting smoking isn’t always easy, but with the right support, encouragement and tools, it is possible. Every person we help has their own journey and their own reasons for wanting to quit, and it’s rewarding to see so many people making positive changes for themselves and their families. Whether it’s through our stop smoking support, Swap to Stop scheme or community events, we’re here to help people take that first step towards a healthier future.”
Every person who quits smoking has their own reason for doing so, whether it’s improving their health, supporting their family, saving money, or simply feeling better day to day. Our Stop Smoking and Wellbeing Programme is helping more people take that first step and giving them the support they need to succeed.
