Myos House week of events to celebrate Dementia Action Week

Myos House is set to host a series of events in celebration of Dementia Action Week, taking place from May 19th to May 23rd, 2025.

This initiative, led by Alzheimer’s Society, aims to raise awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia.

As North Lincolnshire’s first and only specialist dementia care scheme, Myos House will lead on activities for residents, colleagues, partners and members of the community wanting to find out more.

Events include:

  • Monday, 19th May: Bake sale. A delightful array of homemade treats will be on offer, with all proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Society.
  • Tuesday, 20th May: Little Goslings garden activities. A fun-filled day for children and residents to engage in outdoor activities, promoting intergenerational connections.
  • Wednesday, 21st May: Dementia Friends training with Ashley Prior. These sessions will provide essential training, helping to create a more dementia-friendly community.
  • Thursday, 22nd May: Open Day. An opportunity for the anyone interested to learn more about Myos House, its services, and how it supports those living with dementia. All are welcome to attend and add their name to the waiting list for an apartment.
  • Friday, 23rd May: Mens club at  Scunthorpe United. Residents will network, build relationships, and create a support group, fostering a sense of community and shared experiences.

Anita Catley, Dementia Scheme Officer at Myos House commented: “We want to make a positive impact during Dementia Action Week, and by offering a variety of activities, we hope we’ll do just that.

“We invite everyone in the community to participate and support this important cause and are delighted to be opening our doors again on Thursday 22 May for anyone to attend.

“We hope to see lots of you there to share what a special place Myos House is and add names to our waiting list.”
