Neighbourhood Services team celebrates a year of positive community impact

We wanted to share key highlights from our Neighbourhood Services Team (NST) in 2025, highlighting a variety of projects that have made meaningful improvements for customers and neighbourhoods across the area.

Throughout the year, the team focused on identifying and completing high‑impact projects that respond directly to customer feedback, neighbourhood engagement, and on‑the‑ground inspections.

Transformational improvements at Sylvester Street, Kirton

One of the most significant projects completed in 2025 took place at Sylvester Street in Kirton. This large‑scale improvement required four separate visits by the team and focused on enhancing access and usability for residents.

As a result of the work, residents can now safely access the drying area and fully utilise the courtyard space at the rear of their bungalows. The project has made a noticeable difference to daily life for customers, improving accessibility and encouraging greater use of shared outdoor spaces.

Supporting colleagues through group projects

In addition to neighbourhood improvements, NST remains committed to supporting and engaging its workforce. The team’s cleaners, who work hard every day maintaining RLS and low-rise communal blocks, began another group project as part of a dedicated project day.

While their day-to-day cleaning roles are essential, the work can be repetitive and often involves lone working. To encourage teamwork, engagement, and variety, NST regularly organises group project days that allow colleagues to work together on visible, rewarding improvements.

One project took place at Wold Court, where the team completed a communal painting project. Cleaners worked together to refresh the communal benches, giving them a much-needed lick of paint. The results were impressive, and tenant feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with residents expressing appreciation for both the improvements and the customer-focused approach shown by staff.

Volunteer days

Volunteer days were also delivered at Barnes Crescent and Tomlinson Avenue, further strengthening community involvement and partnership working. Targets for these projects were identified using customer survey feedback, supervisor inspections, and Neighbourhood Engagement Days, ensuring that efforts were focused where they were most needed.

Many of the volunteers involved were Ongo tenants, with additional support from individuals participating in the resettlement programme. This collaborative approach not only improves neighbourhoods but also provides valuable opportunities for skills development, inclusion, and community pride.

Looking ahead

The Neighbourhood Services team’s 2025 projects demonstrate a strong commitment to listening to customers, investing in neighbourhoods, and supporting both residents and colleagues. These initiatives continue to build stronger communities, improve shared spaces, and reinforce the value of partnership working.

NST looks forward to building on this success in 2026, with more projects planned that put customers, communities, and collaboration at the heart of everything they do.
