Neighbourhood Services team strengthens school placement partnership with Fredrick Gough

Our Neighbourhood Services Team (NST) is proud to celebrate its growing partnership with local schools, including Fredrick Gough, in providing valuable work placements for students.

Year-on-year, more young people are choosing NST as their placement area, with many reporting that while it may not have been their first choice initially, they leave the experience feeling inspired and supported thanks to the encouragement of their assigned mentors.

Jo Roche, School Placement Coordinator at Fredrick Gough, praised the collaboration: “We really value the relationship we have with the Neighbourhood Services Team for work placements. The staff are always really supportive and provide lots of feedback throughout the week which, although not essential, is much appreciated. Students who undertake placement with the team have developed their team working skills and communication skills through working with a range of different people. Some of the students who have been placed with Steve and his team have been really lacking in confidence, and to see how much their confidence has developed by the end of the week is just brilliant.”

Parents have also shared positive feedback, with one commenting: “This placement was great for my son in terms of confidence, future guidance, and he really enjoyed the experience.”

The placements not only help students gain practical skills but also build confidence, teamwork, and communication abilities that will benefit them in future education and employment. NST mentors play a key role in guiding students, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported throughout their time with the team.

We hope that this success will continue, further strengthening community ties and providing young people with opportunities to thrive.
