North Lincolnshire residents embrace Stoptober with strong quit-smoking results

As part of this year’s national Stoptober campaign, hundreds of residents across North Lincolnshire are taking bold steps toward a smoke-free future, and the results are inspiring.
In partnership with Public Health England and North Lincolnshire Council, we have been working tirelessly to support local people in their journey to quit smoking. Through tailored programmes, free resources, and compassionate one-to-one guidance, we have helped tenants and people in the local community achieve remarkable progress:
- 228 people signed up for quit-smoking support
- 90 successfully quit after just five weeks using free nicotine replacement products and personalised support
- 381 took part in the innovative ‘Swap to Stop’ project, receiving a free vape and starter kit
Stoptober, the national month-long campaign encouraging smokers to quit — has provided the perfect time for people in the community aged 18 and over to access our comprehensive support. Participants benefit from:
- Free one-to-one support over a four-week period
- Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products, including patches, inhalators, and mouth sprays
- Rechargeable vapes and liquids to ease the transition
This approach is designed to empower individuals to quit smoking in a way that suits their lifestyle and needs.
Rebecca, a recent participant, shared her experience, “Quitting smoking has completely changed my life. My asthma is better, I feel healthier and happier, and I’ve even been able to book holidays with the money I’ve saved. The support from the Ongo team made all the difference – they were friendly, understanding, and helped me stay motivated every step of the way. I’d absolutely recommend this programme to anyone thinking about quitting.”
We remain committed to helping the community live healthier, smoke-free lives – not just during Stoptober, but all year round.
