Two of our tenants have received an award from Brigg Town Council for their exceptional work in Horsefair Paddock’s garden, Brigg.

Jason Ladley and Jenny Maclat from the Retirement Living Scheme have been praised for their hard work and dedication in improving where they live.

They began working on the garden last year as something to occupy their time during the pandemic. It soon became a huge hobby and something they both sincerely enjoy.

Jason said: “I was really happy when I found out we’d won. I have autism so gardening brings me peace and happiness – being able to help my neighbours and putting a smile on their faces makes it all worthwhile too.

“We’re already planning on what we can do to make the garden even brighter and more vibrant, so watch this space.”

From the moment Jason moved to Horsefair Paddock he asked if he could manage the garden, do some hanging baskets and create a veg patch in the rear garden area.

Since then he has been growing lots of different veggies for him and his neighbours to enjoy.  Jenny helps maintain the hanging baskets and gardens, and takes great pride in her work.

Denise Ford, Retirement Living Officer here at Ongo said: “Jason and Jenny have done a fantastic job, and I am so proud they won the Brigg Town Council award, it’s so richly deserved.

“They are both very helpful around Horsefair Paddock and with other tenants. It’s been great to see them getting so involved in creating lovely garden areas for everyone to enjoy.

“I think Jason and Jenny have been the incentive for others at Horsefair Paddock to show an interest in improving the gardens and long may it continue.”

We have 15 Retirement Living Schemes. They are for people aged over 50 and are located all over North Lincolnshire.
