We're celebrating successful 11th carnival with record attendance

Earlier this month, Manor Park in Scunthorpe came alive as the annual Ongo Carnival welcomed thousands of visitors from all over the region. With sunshine, smiles, and a jam-packed schedule of entertainment, this year’s event was the biggest and best yet.

Completely free and open to all, the carnival offered something for everyone. From fairground rides and bouncy castles to face painting, animal petting, and interactive family activities.

Crowds were treated to performances from local acts including Messingham Martial Arts, Fire Storm/Heatwave, Gooch Judo, Twinkle Stars, and Dream a Little Dream Entertainment.

A wide range of community partners joined the celebration, including Humberside Fire and Rescue, North Lindsey College, John Leggott College, Humberside Police, UCNL, Citizens Advice, Cadent, Men in Sheds, Ashbridge Roofing, and Hales and Coultas — among many others. Their presence helped showcase the strength and diversity of support available across the region.

The carnival is our biggest annual event and supports an ongoing commitment to giving back to local communities. Since it began, the carnival has welcomed over 25,000 visitors, featured performances from more than 35 local groups, and hosted over 240 agencies sharing valuable services and information.

Michelle, an attendee of the day said, “We had a fabulous time, only ever missed one in the whole time it’s been running, here’s to next year.”

Another attendee said, “I travelled from out of town, and this was my first time attending, I’d heard about the event but thought it was more like a village fete type event and was really surprised at how much there was to do.”

Goodwin Health who had a stall on the day said, “We enjoyed attending the Ongo Carnival last week and found the event very useful.  It was organised so well, and we appreciate all that goes into organising such events.  We would certainly like to attend any future events you may be organising and definitely the Ongo Carnival next year.”

Wendy Wolfe, Customer Engagement Manager at Ongo and lead organiser of the event said, “I’d like to thank every single person who helped make this year’s carnival such a success, from our tenants and customers to colleagues, performers, and partner organisations.

“I feel incredibly proud to work for an organisation that invests in inclusive events like this. They bring people together, create lasting memories, and truly make a difference in our communities.

“Every year I’m blown away by the turnout and the joy on everyone’s faces. As one carnival ends, planning for the next begins, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back for Ongo Carnival 2026!”
