Yes, you can usually report ASB anonymously. However, giving your details may help authorities take stronger or more targeted action and allow us to deal with your problem in a more appropriate way.
If safe, you can keep a log or gather:
- Dates and times of incidents
- Photos or video (only if it doesn’t put you at risk)
- Witness names (if they consent)
- Copies of any written threats or messages
Yes. If the ASB repeatedly breaches tenancy terms or causes serious nuisance, landlords (especially housing associations or councils) can seek eviction. Again though, this is always a last resort.
Authorities will usually try a balanced approach, including referrals to support services. However, ongoing ASB can still result in enforcement action.
Many councils offer victim support services. Charities and local advocacy organisations can also help with:
- Emotional support
- Mediation
- Legal advice or representation
- More information is available on this on this page, including local organisations in your area.
The ASB Case Review, also known in the UK as the Community Trigger, is a legal process that allows victims of persistent anti-social behaviour (ASB) to request a formal review of how their case has been handled by local agencies such as the police, council, or housing provider. You can find more about your area’s ASB Case review process by searching our website, or via a usual search engine. You can also ask your smart speaker.
Depending on the severity and evidence:
- Ongo might give tenancy warnings or, in extreme circumstances, initiate eviction processes. This is, however, always a last resort.
- Police may issue fines, dispersal orders, or criminal charges.
- Local Authority Environmental Health teams can also take action, and issue legal and criminal notices.
