Action day at Allenby Close
We’re holding an action day at Allenby Close on Monday 24 August 2026 and we’d like local residents to get involved.
The day will focus on improving the appearance, safety and management of the estate, with particular attention on bin stores, waste, fly-tipping and communal areas. It is also an opportunity for residents to speak directly with Ongo colleagues and share their views about living in the area.
The event forms part of our ongoing work to:
- Reduce fly-tipping and improve estate appearance.
- Address bin store misuse and promote responsible waste disposal.
- Strengthen partnership working with local agencies.
- Improve communication and engagement with residents.
- Gather feedback on wider neighbourhood issues affecting the community.
Two skips will be available for residents today from 10:00am until approximately 3:00pm and will be located near the green belt on Allenby.
This is a great opportunity to dispose of unwanted household items. Please note that the skips are available on a first come, first served basis and, once full, they will be closed.
The following items cannot be placed in the skips:
- Soil, turf or clay
- Food waste
- Liquid oils or paints (empty tins or tins containing dried paint are allowed)
- Plasterboard (unless it is bagged separately)
- Fridges and freezers
- Sofas and armchairs
- TVs
- Mattresses
Please ensure all waste is disposed of responsibly and follow any instructions provided by staff on site.
What’s happening on the day?
Community litter pick – Join us for a community litter pick and help improve the look of Allenby Close while chatting with members of the Ongo team.
This is a relaxed opportunity to share your thoughts about the area and discuss any concerns or ideas you may have.
- Bags and PPE will be provided.
- The resident who collects the most litter will receive a £20 Amazon voucher.
11:15am – Meet Your Neighbourhood Manager – Come along to Bin Store 2 and meet your Neighbourhood Manager.
We’ll be discussing:
- Bin store usage.
- Waste disposal responsibilities.
- Ideas for improving communal areas.
- Feedback from residents about estate services.
From 1pm – Door knocking & resident visits
Members of our Neighbourhoods Team will be visiting homes across the estate.
We’ll be asking residents about:
- Their experience of living at Allenby Close.
- What they like about their home and neighbourhood.
- Any concerns or issues they would like us to look into.
- Any repairs or enquiries they may need support with.
Activities for children and families
Our Customer Engagement Team will be onsite throughout the day with a gazebo and activities for children and young people.
Residents are welcome to stop by, meet the team and find out more about our work in the area.
Helping keep Allenby Close clean and safe
We’re also reminding residents about the correct use of bin stores.
Please remember:
- Only use the bin store allocated to your property.
- Place all household waste inside the bins provided.
- Do not leave rubbish on the floor or outside the bin store.
- Do not leave bulky items outside bin areas.
- Arrange bulky waste collections through Lincoln City Council and only place items out on the agreed collection day.

Allenby Close action day
We know there have been concerns about bin store misuse, items being left in communal areas, access to bin stores, and the overall look and feel of the area. We want to hear directly from you about what is working, what is not working, and what you think would make the biggest difference. Your feedback will help shape the next steps for Allenby Close, including how Ongo works with you and other residents, City of Lincoln Council and other partners to improve the area.
We also want to understand how residents may wish to be involved in future improvements – whether that is giving feedback, reporting issues, attending estate walkabouts, helping with local projects, or becoming more actively engaged in shaping decisions about the neighbourhood.
