We're celebrating impressive stop smoking success on National No Smoking Day
As today marks National No Smoking Day, we are celebrating the outstanding success of our stop smoking support programme, surpassing expectations and making a real difference to the health and wellbeing of local residents.
The contract was awarded to Ongo Communities by the North Lincolnshire Public Health team to increase engagement across the area and support anyone aged 18 and over who lives in North Lincolnshire to reduce or quit smoking. Since the launch, the programme has achieved exceptional engagement and quit rates. As of the end of January, the results include:
- 300 people signing up for the four‑week stop smoking support
- 133 confirmed quits, marking a significant achievement for the community
- 687 ‘Swap to Stop’ kits issued, helping customers reduce their tobacco consumption and move toward a smoke‑free future
These outcomes not only exceed contract expectations but also highlight the growing demand for accessible, supportive and personalised cessation services across the region.
“We’re incredibly proud of the progress our customers have made,” said Carol Richardson. “Every quit represents a major step forward for someone’s health, finances and overall wellbeing. And with today being National No Smoking Day, there’s never been a better time to take that first step.”
Our stop smoking service offers one‑to‑one support, tailored quit plans and a range of free Nicotine Replacement Products. Including patches, gum, mouth spray, lozenges and inhalators. Customers can mix and match products to suit their needs, helping them reduce or quit smoking at their own pace.
